Early in the project, we held a mapping workshop local residents. Participants were given with a large-scale, unlabelled map of the Brownlow area. The facilitators invited participants to develop the map, using storytelling, personal geography and the local names of key locations.

The resulting thematic maps show important features of the built environment. We have layered these black paths, neighbourhood boundaries etc. onto the map below.

The ‘phase layers’, based on the recollections of the participants, document the development of the new town from the construction of the first housing to the present day.

Use the checkboxes to reveal different layers on the map.
